How much do artwork titles impact our perspective?
Often, an artist’s final touch is naming their piece. Does the name complete the artwork, or can the image speak for itself? In Untitled (Overlay), a small selection of contemporary American photographs asks us to rethink our reliance on texts, explanations, and titles. Each photograph is accompanied by a set of questions, meant to be reflected upon before reading the background description of the image. How does our interaction with the photograph change?
